Meet Steve & Debbie

The piper and the fashionista who found home — and a new adventure — in Montefrío

Hello! We’re Steve and Debbie — originally from Suffolk, UK, and now happily settled here in the beautiful hills of Montefrío. We always dreamed of a slower, sunnier lifestyle, and after years of talking about it over countless cups of tea (and a few wines), we finally made the leap.

We moved to Spain looking for a new adventure — and we found it in the form of an olive-covered farm just outside Montefrío, with not one, but two lovely houses on the land. One is our home, and the other is currently being lovingly transformed into a bed and breakfast — something we’re incredibly excited about. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s coming together beautifully, and we can’t wait to welcome guests from all walks of life very soon.

Before moving here, I (Steve) worked as a car electrical mechanic for many years. These days, I’m more likely to be found with a set of bagpipes than a toolbox. Playing the pipes in the hills around Montefrío has been one of the most unexpected joys of this chapter — and the locals seem to enjoy it too!

And I’m Debbie — a people person through and through. I’ve always loved fashion, stories, and sharing a laugh over a glass of wine. Whether it’s a tapas night in the plaza or a chat with someone new, I find joy in connection and colour (usually in my clothes!).

Montefrío has become more than just a new home — it’s a place that has welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to start fresh, dream big, and slow down.

If you hear the sound of bagpipes or spot someone in a fabulous outfit walking through town — it might just be us. Come say hi — we’re always up for a good chat, and soon we’ll be able to say, “Welcome to our B&B.”
